Next April a redesigned Toyota GT86 will make its debut. The Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are the known counterparts of GT86. Some media reports in Australia say that the styling is not the only thing that has been updated, but the power of this compact sports car has also received a small boost.
What is expected from this major body panel update is the restyled bonnet, new bumpers, headlamps with sleek looks and a lower but wider grille. But these changes will not be too dramatic as Toyota has to maintain the ethics of BRZ and GT86, both share the same production line.
Well, as compared to current version this updated GT86 gets a 9bhp boost, uses the same 2.0 litrefour cylinder Toyota engine but now produces 208 bhp.
Thanks to the reworked intake manifold, this car is now more fuel efficient than its predecessors.
With its WRX and STI models, breaking the sales goal ahead of schedule, Subaru has branded itself as one of the best sports carmaker in the world. It has also confirmed that the BRZ is about to come in a hotter guise than ever before.
Just to suggest some alternate versions of the GT86/FR-S, Toyota has already offered convertible and saloon concepts. But only time will tell what Toyota has stored for us in the future.
