A promising car with its powerful presence on the track

Toyota Celica is not a car which is new to the market. In fact it was discontinued in 2006 but it never left the scene. The ones who own the car have a very high respect for this old horse and despite being a little thirsty; the car becomes economical as it does not need much work at the garage. Only once in a while does the automobile need a mechanic to have the necessary work done.

Otherwise there is no exercise needed to have the adjustments done again and again and that is one of the reasons why this car is successful. Toyota Celica’s The ride has been face lifted seven times during its life span and during the period, its rear wheel drive was changed to front wheel drive to make the car meet the present needs.

What Lies under the Bonnet:

The last uplift of Celica was the best among all. The engines were made more powerful with lighter bodywork and the most important, a new double-wishbone rear suspension to improve the handling of the car. This not only made the driving more controlled but also the price was cut by thousands. The new Celica had tripled sales and praise by the ones who are crazy about speedy drive with comfort.

Standard engine:

The standard Celica was the GT which had a 1.8-Litre engine with 140 hp. This engine comes in five-speed manual and four-speed automatic gearbox. The engine without doubt carries the car with power through the roads.

The Next Level:

The GT engine was a high performing one but still the one that became popular was GT-S. Its 1.8-Litre engine with VVTL-i (variable valve timing and lift) produced an 180hp taking the car to 64,000rpm. The trim level came with a six speed manual gearbox.

The Upgrades that were installed in the newest Celica:

In its last upgrade, the road runner was equipped with many new features that made the car a fun to drive from that time period. Disk breaks, power windows and locks, cruise control, alloy wheels and better stereo were all optional choices that the owner was able to load the car for personalizing. The well sorted suspension and strong breaks and a responsive steering wheel were responsible for the well handled drive of this automobile.

The Shortcomings:

What made this car unpleasant was the way it balanced itself on bumps and expansion joints. Its rivals at that time were well equipped in this manner.

Also the seating was a negative point, as in the front there was a lot of legroom and the seats were also movable to make the rear passenger comfortable. But what if you are a tall driver and need more space, then the rear passenger was left with less or no space at all. The car is not a big fan of low speeds and it makes the drive a hassle in traffic. Another problem was its rough manual shift which is not a really good thing when you are looking for a perfect piece of engineering.
