The Civic type-R will hit 167mph with a 280bhp engine at Paris Motor Show in September

The Civic hot hatch from Japanese automaker is capable of doing 167mph from a 280bhp engine but according to Honda officials. Honda has released some teasers and several detail images or exclusive image shows that how the Civic type-R will look like after its production.

The most noticeable and appealing thing about the new Civic type-R is its speed. It is capable of doing 167mph from a 280hp Honda engine. It is just 7mph behind the new Audi RS3 which is packed with a 362bhp engine. The Civic type-R is also 2mph faster than the Ford Focus RS500 which has a 345bhp engine under the hood.

Top speed comes from the Civic’s new aerodynamics system which uses flat under body, rear diffuser, big rear wing, best shaped side skirts and front splitters with balanced down force with drag and boost high-speed stability.

Honda has confirmed that the Civic type-R uses Brembo brakes with four-piston callipers to grab 350mm drilled disc. It has 19-inch unique wheels to give the Civic type-R oomph. It uses the 2.0 litre VTEC turbo engine with the heat management and larger intake systems.

The new Civic also utilises instrument cluster with the rev counter that goes up to 8,000rpm. It also has a +R button that sharpens the throttle response and turns up the exhaust volume and adds weight to the steering.

New Honda Civic type-R will be finished in the white championship paint and will be displayed at Geneva Motor Show in March. The 2.0 litre VTEC engine will transfer 280bhp on wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and clock the 0-62 miles per hour in just six seconds.

Honda has claimed that the 100 plus orders have already been received from UK with deliveries starting in the summer of this year.
