Jaguar Land Rover is a world renowned group producing some really fascinating vehicles powered by brilliantly fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines. At a site near Wolverhampton, it had been battling with 53 other projects to have the honours of winning region’s Property Oscars at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) West Midlands awards 2014.
This new gigantic plant is going to be the main producer of the next generation Ingenium engines which will be used to power the new Jaguar XE Saloon going on sale in 2015. The i54 development site will cost about £500 million to complete till next year; the covered area will be 775,000 sq ft.
According to the judges this new engine production facility, by engaging th local community and local schools, is contributing to the growth of the region and is going to create approximately 1,400 new jobs. It has the offices, engine assembly, specialist equipment and ancillary facilities.
The Jaguar Land Rover engine plant was one of those four winners, selected by a panel of 16 judges. These awards were hosted by the famous architect George Clarke who is also the presenter of Channel 4’s Restoration Man. Library of Birmingham is another winner of the Design Through Innovation award, it also won the blue ribbon project of the year award.
The Library of Birmingham is designed by a Dutch architect and construction was carried out by the Birmingham City Council in collaboration with Carillion. This iconic building would become a new landmark making a bold statement if Birmingham’s confidence in itself.
