The fourth generation Audi A7 which codename is Audi C7 arrived in 2011. But now it is expected that the Audi A7 will be laid down at end of 2017 with the entrance of the fifth generation Audi A6 which codename is Audi C8. The Audi Prologue Series of concepts were revealed in 2014 and 2015.

The all new Audi A6 is likely to get bigger in size and lighter due to an evolutionary design. According to Development, The second generation Audi A7 and the fourth generation Audi A8 expected to arrive in the following two years.
According to reports, same new platform, share a common driveline, chassis and electrical systems will be strengthen in all three models which may cause to lower manufacturing costs and lesser R&D investments.
The new platform, which is currently used in second generation Audi Q7 and fifth generation Audi A4, will probably be the Volkswagen Group’s second-generation MLB.
Lightweight but strong materials incorporated to fashion this new generation at the MLB Platform. There are hot formed high strength steel, aluminium and carbon fibre materials reportedly used in the Audi A6. These measures along with several others would slash the weight of the model by around 100kg.
On lifting the bonnet of the A6, a four-cylinder or a six cylinder turbocharged engine will stare at you. It can be a diesel or a petrol engine with exhaust driven turbocharger in both cases.
It is not the end of the glamour and power, there is a plug-in hybrid variant also available with diesel companion for Europe and petrol for America and China. From 6-speed, 7-speed and 8-speed manual transmissions, there are automatic options also available.
