Honda FCV hydrogen vehicle is touted as a successor to FCX Clarity and was unveiled ahead of its production in 2016

The all new Honda FCV Hydrogen fuel cell vehicle concept has been unveiled ahead of its production in 2016. After this announcement, Honda has come closer to hydrogen powered car production. The officials said that the FCV car production will be started as a rival to Toyota’s Mirai FCV, which will be launched in Europe a year before the Honda FCV.

The all new FCEV concept was shown at LA Motor Show last year, it was revealed with a more distinctive exterior and exclusive interior styling than its predecessor FCX Clarity fuel cell saloon.

It was unveiled with an enhanced powertrain with more economical and promising returns of more than 435 miles from a single fill-up. It is only because of a new highly pressurised delivery of hydrogen from the tank. The new tank delivers the hydrogen at 70 mega Pascal of pressure. This tank can also be recharged in approximately three minutes from a charging station and the infrastructure will be installed in UK with a massive investment in coming years.

Honda said that the new system will beat Toyota’s range by 135 miles or more; where as Toyota FCV has a range of 300 miles from a single fuel tank. Honda is using an advanced fuel tank technology where they will use relatively small fuel tank with some sophisticated methods to deliver extra performance. Approximately, 33 percent smaller tank delivers 60 per cent extra performance than the Mirai FCV, and it is measured at 134bhp.

Honda has selected the Power Exporter to tune the FCV for extra horses with their power feeding device. This device is designed to produce energy from the vehicle’s electrical system and charge the fuel cells with the power of 9KW. It is enough power for an average size house to run its all functions.

The all new Honda FCV is a futuristic approach for the next generation mobility but the only issue is the availability of hydrogen fuel and it’s charging platforms in UK. The infrastructure for FCV vehicles is under development.
