Due to the bad sales of Ford diesel engines, Ford has decided to focus on EcoBoost petrol engines while improving the Hybrids

Like other automakers, Ford has decided to focus on the Hybrid and petrol-electric models as the EcoBoost technology has become their preference. They have recently decided to improve the EcoBoost technology in the next ten years and diesel engines will be kept on back.  Ford’s product development boss has said, “This year we’ll be selling well over 1 million EcoBoost engines globally, and we sold more EcoBoost engines than we did diesel engines globally last year, which was a big milestone for us.”

Ford has faced a 45.8 per cent fall in diesel sales in 2013, when they share it with the EcoBoost or petrol sales. Last year in 2014, figure has further decreased to 44.9 percent.

He said, “There is still a lot of development potential left when it comes to efficiency for both EcoBoost. We’re a long way from seeing the end of the line on conventional technology, we are going to see for the next 10 years continued development on traditional petrol and diesel.” With the expansion in operations of EcoBoost technology, Ford has decided to expand its Hybrid operations.

Ford has strong footing in North American markets where they sold Hybrid cars. It is second best after Toyota but Ford has decided to expand their operations across the European markets in near future.

Bakaj further said that they are in the phase now, where they are developing electrified technologies as a part of Ford’s global strategy.

He said, “When we develop hybrid and electric technology now we design it to sell it all around the world. That wasn’t true 10 years ago.”
