The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) reports revealing that the diesel engine cars are emitting 25 time extra pollution particles and playing a vital role in polluting the atmosphere. It is noticed when diesel engines were tested in the real world conditions. ICCT found that the average diesel car produces seven times more nitrogen oxide than the Euro 6 standard on emission rates which came into effect last month.
The standard for nitrogen oxide set by the Euro 6 standard is 60mg per kilometre and you will be amazed by knowing that only one car out 15 meet the requirements. The other side of the picture is very dark where reports show the worst part of the story. Reports show that the majority of diesel cars are producing up to 2000mg of nitrogen oxide per kilometre.
Nitrogen oxide is the key factor associated to the deaths of thousands of premature in UK . The high quantity of this gas is being produced by the diesel engines, thanks to the huge popularity of diesel powered cars. This is the vital phenomenon for UK government to apply some extra charges to earn money from diesel drivers. It’s the Mayor of London, Mr Boris Johnson who thinks that charging the diesel drivers for some extra might solve the problem.
The British pollution tests carried out by Emissions Analytics, shows that Mercedes C200 and Citroen C4 Cactus are producing three times the limit. The department denied to release the whole data for all the tests carried but it is assumed that the numbers are high.
Researchers also said that manufacturers were developing some clean diesel technologies but unfortunately they have not been used in the right way. The actual need is to direct the manufacturers to deploy the cleaner technologies on their cars rather than applying the congestion charges on the drivers because congestion charges can divert the traffic from London but cannot eliminate the problem.
