The Jaguar XF is an executive saloon with extreme stylish look, premium class of interior, superb handling and acceptable running cost. The British automaker has decided to give tough time to the Germans by introducing the Jaguar XF.
In autumn 2007, the Jaguar XF was introduced as a replacement of the Jaguar S-Type. Strong but lightweight material is used in manufacturing this luxury car.
There is a good range of perfect and efficient engines which delivers bombastic power with performance to this executive saloon that has to face very challenging competitors in the market such as Audi A6, BMW 5 series and Mercedes E-class.
The Jaguar XF gives its best with petrol engines. The diesel range gives exceptional smooth drive with good economy too. Excellent engine lineup with multiple choices in gearbox along with lot of tech like All Surface Progress Control system, All Wheel Drive system and Direct Electric Power system makes the Jaguar XF prominent in its classmates.
The Jaguar XF is available with four engines- three diesel engines and one petrol engine. The 2.0 liter Ingenium diesel has two different outputs with 161bhp and 178bhp of power. Both versions are capable to give smooth and perfect ride with efficient fuel economy. These engines are especially designed for speed as well as for low running cost.
The 161bhp diesel version with standard six-speed manual gearbox achieves 72m/g. This engine is capable to take the saloon from 0-62m/h in 8.7 seconds with CO2 emissions of 104g/km. The 178bhp diesel engine is quicker than 161bhp version; it takes 8.1 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h sprint. The emissions of CO2 are 114g/km.
This engine is equipped with excellent eight-speed automatic gear option. Though automatic gear system is available for both engines (standard for 178bhp and optional for 161bhp), but 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel 178bhp with eight-speed automatic gearbox is the optimum choice of the Jaguar XF clientage because of its speed and practicality. The next in line is 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6 Engine. It is designed for those who want more speed and don’t mind paying for it.
It produces 296bhp with massive 516lb/ft of pulling power just at 2000rpm. Though it is not quite as fast as the petrol version, but it takes just 6.2 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h sprint, along with an acceptable fuel economy of 52m/g. This figure is considered incredible in diesel engines. It is equipped with eight-speed automatic gearbox and reserved for the Jaguar XFS-Series.
There is a 375 bhp 3.0litre supercharged petrol V6 engine. The Jaguar has used this petrol unit in its S-Series as well as in F-Type sports car. It gives a fine blend of speed and control. It is really quick and fast.
It takes just 5.3 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h sprint. It is not a cheap version to use for a normal buyer due to poor fuel economy. It gives an average of 34m/g with emissions of CO2 at the rate of 198g/km. The eight-speed automatic gearbox is as standard.
