Based on the F07 platform, the 5 Series Gran Turismo (GT) was introduced in 2009. It is the oldest member of this 5 Series family but now it has got a second chance to prove its worth. Internally it has been referred to as the G32 and the world will know it as the 2017 BMW 5 Series GT.
In extremely cold weather conditions, the G32 along with G30 saloon were caught testing by spy photographers. It will be offering an of four- to eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
The new GT looks definitely better than its predecessor thanks to a more athletic waistline and a more graceful roofline. A large hatchback is still its prime feature but the headroom and legroom for the rear passenger is best thing about this new version.
As far as the interior is, it’s greatly inspired by the G11/G12 7 Series, which is a good thing though. Along with the 12.3-inch touchscreen display, this new car will be getting the gesture-based technology in the latest iDrive infotainment system.
On the list of features available as options, there is Wi-Fi hotspot and Qi specification wireless phone charging.
An assortment of four- to eight-cylinder turbo diesel and the twin-turbo V8 engine will be offered in the new BMW 5 Series GT. All the engine choices will be mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox.
The 520d turbo diesel engine, 550i xDrive gets a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 will be available when it will make its debut late in 2016.
